Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 specifications leaked, expecting May unveiling

We have recently reported on Samsung working on the Mega series of phablets featuring screen sizes above 5.5-inch. Now reports on SamMobile highlight some key specifications of these phablets named as Galaxy Mega 5.8 and codenamed as GT-I9152, and Galaxy Mega 6.3. These reports claim that the specifications for both the phablets are confirmed.

As far as the Galaxy Mega 5.8 is concerned, it will be a mid-end smartphone with a 5.8-qHD TFT display offering 960×540 pixels resolution and a dual-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Besides these, it will feature an 8-megapixel back camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, and 1.5GB of RAM. On connectivity front, there will be Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 80211 a/b/g/n and A-GPS support given in the device. The phablet will house a 2600mAh battery, however there is no mention of the talk time in the reports. As far as the dimensions go, it is expected to be 9.7mm thick.

This will be yet another DUOS device from Samsung like the recently launched Galaxy Grand DUOS featuring a 5-inch display and a dual-core processor. This will be one of its own kind of phablets launched by the biggies, as there is none seen to carry such a big screen.

Like the Mega 5.8, Galaxy Mega 6.3 will also be powered by a dual-core processor albeit clocked at 1.7GHz. This apart, it will sport an 8-megapixel back camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, 1.5 GB of RAM, and support for Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 80211 a/b/g/n and A-GPS. There will be a 3200mAh battery fitted in the phablet measuring 88 × 167.6 ×7.9mm, which is the same thickness as that seen in Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4. Samsung is expected to launch the Mega 6.8 in two versions – with and without LTE. The device is expected to come in black and white colors, out of which the black variant is speculated to get released before the white one. Codename of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is GT-I9200 for 3G and GT-I9205 for LTE.

There is no confirmation on whether the phablets will run either Android 4.1.2 or Android 4.2.2 version of Jelly Bean. There is no confirmation on the date of release of the phablet, however, both are expected to get released in May this year.
