Apple confirmed the dates for its annual worldwide developers conference (WWDC) early this week. While Tim Cook and team is confirmed to unveil new versions of iOS, tvOS, watchOS and macOS at the event, there are also reports of Apple dropping new hardware at the event in McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
Apple will reportedly unveil an updated iPad Pro with Face ID and edge-to-edge display design similar to what is seen on the iPhone X. The Cupertino-based iPhone maker is also rumored to reveal a new entry-level MacBook with Retina Display, which might replace the existing MacBook Air. In addition to these two devices, there are also hints of iPhone SE getting a much-needed refresh.
Now, Japanese site Macotakara has shared a video of what it claims to be the next generation iPhone SE. The video that first surfaced on China’s Weibo shows a small iPhone with a display design similar to iPhone X. The most striking aspect in the video is that the device seems to be running iOS.
However, it is very unlikely to be the next iteration of iPhone SE. The video shows a device that looks like the iPhone X with a boxy design similar to iPhone SE, but offers thinner bezels and ditches the home button. The video in question shows the device is in working condition, and houses a vertically placed camera module. The video also shows settings page suggesting it is an iPhone but it might be well be another Android clone with iOS skin on top.
KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that Apple is not planning to launch second-generation of iPhone SE at WWDC 2018. This video raises more question especially considering the fact that iPhone SE is meant to be the cheapest iPhone, and an iPhone X-style design will only end up increasing the cost.
Apple is rumored to launch three new iPhones later this year, will all the three models ditching the home button for Face ID, and also adopting edge-to-edge display design. One of the models is said to be the successor to iPhone X while another model is rumored to be iPhone X Plus with larger 6.5-inch OLED display. The third model is said to feature a 6.1-inch LCD display, and will be the replacement to LCD based iPhone 8 models.
