Sony Smartband SWR10 launched for Rs 5,990 in India,


Along with launching the Xperia Z2 in India, Sony also launched the Smartband SWR10 for Rs 5,990. It will be available for free on the purchase of the Xperia Z2. The smartband is the company’s take on the recently launched Samsung Gear Fit, and Nike’s FuelBand among others. It is essentially a fitness tracker, which monitors your movements and health among others.

Talking of the key specifications, the Smartband SWR10 weighs in at 21 grams and is compatible with the Lifelog app, which works as a digital pedometer to count burnt calories and steps taken. The band can also sends notifications for social media alerts, and doubles up as a music-remote. Also, it has a smart alarm which the company claims can track your sleep cycle and set alarm accordingly.

It can be connected via Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, needs Smart Connect app and SmartBand host app to be used with a smartphone. It also supports NFC connectivity option. Unlike other such devices, Sony’s smartband is not only compatible with Xperia smartphones, and can be connected to the LG Nexus 5 and Nexus 4, the Samsung Galaxy Note III and Galaxy S4, and the HTC One and One (M8) smartphones.

Like the Xperia smartphones, the Smartband SWR10 is IP58 rated, which means that it is waterproof. Stay tuned for our first impressions of the Smartband SWR10.
