The Sony Xperia XA1 series is adopting the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system as we speak. The update weighs about 900MB and bumps the Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra and Xperia XA1 Plus up to Android 8.0 Oreo and brings the February 2018 security patch level.
The Android Oreo update brings several changes to the smartphones. The changes include Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, Notification dots, Smart Autofill, redesigned Quick Settings menu, and faster boot time. There are also the usual bevy of bug fixes and system improvements. The update also brings a relatively new Android security patch to smartphones.
There will reportedly also be improvements such as smart reminders and actions through Xperia Assist, context menus when you long-press on an app icon or select text, better performance and much more.
Sony Xperia XA1 specifications and features
The Sony Xperia XA1 features a 5-inch HD display. Powered by MediaTek Helio P20 64-bit octa-core SoC, it is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card.
For photography, it sports a 23-megapixel camera at the rear and an 8-megapixel sensor up front. Fueled by a 2,300mAh battery, it supports Quick Charging, and Sony’s STAMINA mode for extended battery life. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB Type-C port. On the software front, the Xperia XA1 runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra specifications and features
Launched in April 2017, the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra features a 6-inch full HD edge-to-edge display. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.
For photography, the Xperia XA1 Ultra sports a 23-megapixel rear camera. Up front, is a 16-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization. Fueling the smartphone is a 2,700mAh battery, which comes with Qnovo Adaptive Charging, STAMINA Mode and Quick Charging, which the company says can charge the device to 60 percent in 45 minutes. The Xperia XA1 Ultra features USB Type-C connector for data transfer and charging.
Xperia XA1 Plus specifications, features
The Xperia XA1 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. At the heart of the smartphone runs a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, along with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.
It sports a 23-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor. The connectivity options available on the Xperia XA1 include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The smartphone is fueled by a 3,430mAh battery along with support for quick charging. The smartphone also comes with Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology for monitoring, and adjusting the charging power for a longer battery life.
