Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet to launch in India tomorrow, likely to be priced at Rs 44,990

Last month, Sony unveiled the Xperia Z Ultra in China and now the Japanese company is ready to launch the phablet in India. Earlier we had reported that the 6.4-inch phablet was available on e-commerce sites for Rs 44,990 and they claimed that the device would start shipping from July 31 onwards. Right on cue, Sony has invited us to a press conference in New Delhi tomorrow where it will be launching the Xperia ZU.

The Xperia Z Ultra is Sony’s flagship product and it will be the first product in India to ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU clocked at 2.2GHz. It is also the first Sony mobile product to be equipped with a 1080p TRILUMINUS display, something which the company uses in its high-end HDTVs.

Other features included are an 8-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, 2-megapixel front camera, 16GB of internal memory, 2GB of RAM and is waterproof and dust resistant. On the software front, the phablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but as Sony’s recent software update roadmap revealed, the device will soon get the 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

Tune in tomorrow when we will bring you the official price, photos and our first impressions of the phablet.
