Elon Musk led SpaceX successfully launched and landed the Falcon 9 rocket in another satellite transportation mission on Wednesday. This was the company’s 14th launch mission this year, which took place at the Vandenberg Air Force Base in Southern California at 7:39AM ET (5:09PM IST). Subsequently, the news of the booster rocket landing back safely on the drone ship Mr Stevens was confirmed on Twitter by SpaceX.

While SpaceX has been carrying out missions without any glitches, the rocket booster landing on the ship was more impressive this time around as the weather was more challenging, due to heavy winds. TechCrunch reported the ship to carry a bigger net this time, in order to recover more fairings from the rocket.

Yesterday’s launch was SpaceX’s seventh mission for the communications satellite company Iridium. SpaceX has been employed by the company to deploy 75 satellites into the orbit. Under their contract, SpaceX is said to carry out one more launch with Iridium. While that’s going to be sometime in the future, SpaceX reported to have deployed yesterday’s launched satellites without any trouble.

With its reusable functionality, Falcon 9 has cut down on the cost of transporting satellites to orbit immensely. However, Space X doesn’t want to stop there. The company is constantly trying to find ways to cut down on cost. That said, it’s safe to say that it is still getting the job done. Last year, SpaceX set a new record by carrying out 18 launch missions. It further has a target of launching 300 missions in the next 5 years.
