We search about anything and everything on Google. I sincerely do not know anyone around me, who uses a search engine other than the Big G’s. But, in the year 2017, like you did every year since probably 1998, while you looked up everything that came to your head, but what was that we all searched the most? Well, Google has shared with us the year in search, and the results are really interesting.

As Google says, entertainment has pretty much been the top priority for Indians this year. Apparently, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion topped Google’s trending charts this year. This was followed by searches around Indian Premier League, and searches on ‘Live Cricket Score’, making the keyword the third-most trending search query this year. Also making it to the top ten list are the searches for movies Dangal and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.

Further on, the craze, of course, didn’t stop at the movies, Bollywood songs kept the tempo high on Search too. Among the top trending songs this year, Hawa Hawa from the movie Mubarakan crowned the charts, followed by Sufi track Mere Rashke Qamar. International hit Despacito, and Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You also featured among India’s top trending tracks.

As has happened in the past few year, the crown of the most searched personality is still worn by Sunny Leone, who once again featured among the top entertainers this year, followed by Bigg Boss entrant Arshi Khan, Sapna Choudhary, and YouTube singing sensation Vidya Vox. The glamor of B-town dominated the rest of the list with names like Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, and Rana Daggubati.

While entertainment had a big hand in India’s year on Google, some very important social news also kept Indians on hooked to Search. CBSE results, UP elections, Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Budget featured among the trending news events that witnessed huge interest among Indian users. We were on point with the rest of the world when it came to knowing more about Bitcoin prices or expressing interest about ransomware. Then, of course, there was India’s historic win at the Miss World ceremony, which catapulted Manushi Chhillar to fame.

Curiosity has always had us all going, and our go-to wizard is Googledore. Among the top ‘What is’ queries this year, GST, Bitcoin, Jallikattu and BS3 vehicle remained the most trending themes. And mirroring millions of real-world needs, the how-to set of queries saw users seeking answers to a range of subjects from ‘How to link Aadhaar with PAN card’ to buying Jio phone to removing Holi color from the face!
