Nintendo’s super popular crossover fighting game Super Smash Bros. is finally coming to Switch. Super Smash Bros. usually features characters from different franchises from Nintendo’s established systems.

Nintendo’s announcement at Nintendo Direct, that Super Smash Bros. is coming to Switch was the most exciting bit of news at the event today. The announcement says that the game will be coming sometime this year in the trailer. Speaking of which, the trailer shows off some new additions to the team this time apart from returning favorites like Mario and Link. The squid kids from Splatoon make a big splash in the trailer, and are soon shadowed by the presence of a many others.

There is a crowd of silhouettes teased in the trailer, which could be a possible list of the characters appearing in the game. A few of the shadows look like Samus, Donkey Kong, and Bowser, but we are not sure yet.

This is the fourth Super Smash Bros. game, and in a news release, the company referred to the title as Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. The first one was the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64, followed by Super Smash Bros. Melee for GameCube, and the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which made an appearance at this year’s Evo fighting game tournament.

We are not sure if this is a new version of the game altogether or just an updated version of the Super Smash Bros. If it is an updated version of the Wii U game, then it might have more content and could be featured as a Deluxe Version.

Nintendo Switch users have been demanding a Super Smash Bros. game for a while now, and it only makes sense for the company to listen to them. The Switch is the most successful and popular console from Nintendo, which has kept a great track record in the quality of the games that have been introduced on it.
