After the Apple AirPods was introduced, it received a lot of criticism for its impractical design. Despite that, companies were quick to borrow from the truly wireless technology and build similarly designed earbuds with charging cases. Adding to the AirPods clone list are the TicPods Free, which are a more colorful alternative, and are compatible with Android.
Listed on Indiegogo, the TicPods Free has been designed by US-based Mobvoi. The project, with the initial goal of $50,000 has achieved far more funding even as it is a month away from the closure. Similar to the original Apple AirPods, the TicPods are wireless earbuds designed for those on-the-go. The earbuds allows for touch-based input, and support Bluetooth for connectivity.
Other features include automatic in-ear detection, call audio support for both ears, noise cancellation and noise isolation. The earbuds are claimed to deliver a battery life of up to 18 hours without the case. Another highlight is that the TicPods Free come with IPX5 rating for water and dust resistance.
