Twitter has been trying to tell third-party app developers who’s the boss, first by removing support for some apps and now by giving more detailed information on how these apps would use your Twitter accounts. Today, Twitter announced an update to its permissions policy for such third-party apps. For instance, apps that have no business reading your Direct Messages won’t be able to do so. On the other hand, those that need to access these messages will ask users once again for permission to access those messages starting from a month’s time when the update comes into effect.
