All eyes will be set as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presents the Union Budget 2018-19 today in Parliament. His speech will commence at 11 AM. This time around, the budget will be all the more crucial as it follows the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.

The railway budget will also be presented along with the Union budget. As it will be the Narendra Modi government’s last budget presentation before the Lok Sabha elections next year, we might hear some radical new announcements around his local manufacturing or ‘Make in India’ campaign.

In a first, Jaitley is likely to present the budget speech in Hindi. According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the idea is to have a direct connect with the rural population as the budget will be focusing on agriculture distress. By doing so, Jaitley will be the first Union Finance Minister to deliver the budget speech in Hindi since the Independence.
