Vertu Ti launched for a whopping Rs 5.6 lakh

We reported earlier about luxury mobile brand Vertu reportedly shifting from the outdated Symbian OS to launch luxurious phones running on the Android OS. Now a report on Gigaom reveals more information on the company’s first phone called the Vertu Ti which is priced at a staggering USD 10,500 (Rs 5.6 lakh approximately).

The Vertu Ti runs on an outdated Android Ice Cream Sandwich and sports a 3.7-inch sapphire-surfaced screen, which the company claims is near-impervious to scratches. The phone is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and comes with an 8-megapixel camera and an internal storage of 64GB.

The Rs 5.6 lakh you spend is only for the entry-level Vertu Ti made up of titanium-frame-with-leather. The company also offers various customization options in terms of materials like ‘red gold mixed metals’, which can shoot the bill up to USD 22,100 (Rs 11.9 lakh approximately). Vertu has also kept the phone strictly exclusive by selling the phone through only 500 retail outlets globally.
