Videocon has also joined the likes of Airtel, Vodafone and Idea and is offering a hefty discount on its 2G data tariffs. The operator’s service users will now be able to access data on 2G network by paying up to 90 percent less tariffs than earlier. The new discounted data tariffs will be available in four telecom circles including Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, where the operator is operational. The new data tariffs will be valid from the first week of July.
Like Airtel, Videocon will now charge 1 paisa per 10KB of data instead of the earlier 10 paisa per 10KB on accessing Internet. However, the offer is applicable only on data accessed beyond the bundled benefits of the respective special data packs. So if one crosses the free data limits on ones respective data plans, then one will be charged according to the new data tariffs instead of the earlier zones.
Videocon’s representatives believe that the move will help in accelerating mobile Internet adoption and data penetration across the nation, which is witnessing a growth in data usage.
