Vivo is expected to launch its NEX series of smartphones with true bezel-less design on June 12. At MWC 2018, Vivo showcased the Apex concept smartphone with no top bezel, bottom chin or a notch, and had true edge-to-edge display. It also came with a pop-up selfie camera in a rectangular form factor.
While it was a concept back then, the Chinese smartphone maker confirmed that it is indeed turning Apex into a real product. If reports emerging from China are anything to go by then the new devices based on the Apex concept will be called NEX, NEX S, and NEX A. The Vivo NEX is expected to be the flagship offering here while the NEX S and NEX A will use the new Snapdragon 710 chipset.
Ahead of the purported launch next week, the details of the Snapdragon 710-powered variants have appeared online. A leaked photo of the incomplete specifications via Pricekart shows core features of the Vivo NEX S smartphone. The smartphones are expected to feature a 6.01-inch Full HD+ display with slim bezels and a screen-to-body ratio of nearly 100 percent. One of the highlights will be the pop-style front-facing camera that comes out of its enclosure only when you trigger the selfie camera.
The listing reveals that the mid-range Vivo NEX models will feature a 24-megapixel selfie camera. At the back, it is expected to feature dual camera module comprising of a 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors. Powering the device will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.
The Vivo NEX S will be preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo along with company’s Funtouch UI. It will be backed by a 3,320mAh battery, which seems decent for the device. Going by the features of Apex, the NEX series will also feature in-display fingerprint sensor and might cover half of the screen.

In the past few days, the rumors surrounding Vivo’s NEX series have been more frequent but these leaks must be taken with a proverbial grain of salt. Vivo has been leading when it comes to innovation and it was the first to launch a commercial device with in-display fingerprint sensor. With NEX series, it might launch one of the most advanced smartphones in the recent times, both in terms of design and innovation.
