After an impressive concept showcase at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018), Vivo appears to be getting ready for its next flagship smartphone. A company teaser, revealed via Weibo, hints at the Vivo V9 smartphone, which is likely to debut soon.
Vivo V9 was recently spotted gracing billboards in Indonesia and with the latest posters, it seems the company is on its way of introducing the V7 successor. While not much is known about the upcoming smartphone, it is expected that the Vivo V9 will boast Apple iPhone X-like design language and come equipped with a powerful front camera.
Based on the leaked poster, the Vivo V9 will feature a ‘notch’ on the top of the screen. Debuted by Apple in the iPhone X, the notch-design is picking pace in the industry as more manufacturers are adding the cutout on their newer models. Asus recently introduced the design with its Zenfone 5 smartphone, while new Oppo R15 models also boast similar design features.
Vivo V9 also appears to feature an edge-to-edge display with 18:9 aspect ratio. As for the front camera, it is likely to come with a 24-megapixel shooter. What also stands out from the posters is the presence of dual cameras at the back.
As GizmoChina reports, the Vivo V9 appears to feature a rear fingerprint sensor, which means the smartphone will not be priced in the high-end category as it does not seem to incorporate the under-display fingerprint sensing technology. Other details on the use of chipset and battery capacity are scarce. However, if we look at the predecessor Vivo V7, the company used the Snapdragon 450 SoC. For the Vivo V9, it is expected that Snapdragon 660 SoC could power the smartphone, supporting the dual-camera setup.
In comparison, the Vivo V7 features a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS FullView display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.8GHz paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. For photography, there is a 16-megapixel camera at the rear and 24-megapixel selfie camera. It runs Android 7.1 Nougat with Funtouch OS 3.2 layered on top. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
