Vivo X21, the smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor, was launched in March. While the X21 was exclusive to the Chinese market initially, Vivo expanded it to other markets with its launch in Singapore this week. Now, a new rumor claims Vivo X21 will be launched in India in May.
According to 91mobiles, Vivo is planning to expand Vivo X21 to more markets including India. The smartphone is said to launch here sometime in May with the smartphone going on sale in Singapore from May 5. The report adds that Vivo is planning to launch the smartphone in India later this month and sales will commence in June.
If Vivo ends up launching the X21 in India this month then it will become the first X-series smartphone to launch here. There is also a high possibility that Vivo might launch the X21 as Vivo V9+. Vivo already sells the V9 and V9 Youth smartphones in India and V9+ could become unique thanks to its in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Vivo X21 with in-display fingerprint sensor could be priced above Rs 30,000 but considering its price tag of RMB 3,599 i.e. Rs 37,800, Vivo might go for an even higher price tag and justify it with a new technology. Vivo also sells a regular variants of X21 with rear-mounted fingerprint sensor but that might not launch in India.
The Vivo X21 features a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and support for taller 19:9 aspect ratio. Powering the device is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The Vivo X21 comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.
On the camera front, the Vivo X21 offers dual rear camera setup with a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel image sensors. The primary 12-megapixel camera supports a wider f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel phase detection autofocus and larger 1.4 micron pixel size. The secondary 5-megapixel camera acts as depth sensor and has narrower f/2.4 aperture for bokeh effect. At the front, the Vivo X21 gets a 12-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and support for 1080p video recording.
