Xiaomi made quite a stir in the industry with the launch of the Mi TV4 in February, followed by the Mi TV 4A earlier this week. The highlight of the TV series being ‘a smart TV priced much lesser than most flagship smartphones’. Well, shortly after the sole glory, Xiaomi’s thunder is now ready to be challenged by Vu.

Vu Televisions is set to launch an Android TV-based television on March 13. The company has sent out invites for the launch event in Bengaluru.

The invite reads, “Okay Google, Let’s Vu”, which is a very clear hint of the television will be Android-based. Now, Vu has launched Android-based smart television in the past as well, however, this is its first Android TV offering. We can expect Vu to launch models that are competitively priced, considering it is expected to compete with the Xiaomi TVs.

On February 14, Xiaomi launched a 55-inch 4K HDR Mi TV, which was priced at Rs 39,999,. However, earlier this week, the company introduced a cheaper and smaller variant of the Mi TV 4, called the Mi TV 4A. The new television comes with a 32-inch screen, and is priced at Rs 13,999. There is also a 43-inch offering, which is priced at Rs 22,999.

Both the Mi TV 4 and Mi TV 4A feature the PatchWall AI-based UI, one that has been specifically optimized for India. Connectivity options on the 43-inch Mi TV 4A includes Wi-Fi, three HDMI (one ARC) ports, three USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet port, one AV component port, one S/PDIF audio port, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack port.

The 32-inch model comes with two USB 2.0 ports and misses out on the S/PDIF port, with the rest of the connectivity options being the same. Xiaomi is also touting the presence of DTS-HD audio support. The Mi TV 4A models ship with the 11-button Mi Remote that can be used to control a set-top box apart from the television itself, using the Mi IR cable.
