Samsung is set to host the Galaxy Premiere 2014 event at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 12. If you are unable to attend the event in New York, fret not as the company will be streaming the event live on its YouTube channel, SamsungTomorrow reports.
The media invite Samsung sent had the tagline “Tab into Color”, which could be a subtle reference to the AMOLED display on the Galaxy Tab S. From what we know so far, there are two AMOLED variants in the Galaxy Tab S lineup — an 8.4-inch variant and a 10.5-inch variant.
Both the tablets will be the company’s first to boast a WQXGA (2560×1600 pixels) AMOLED display. They will also be the first tablets to feature a fingerprint scanner similar to the one on the Galaxy S5 flagship device.
In terms of specifications, the tablets will be powered by an octa-core Exynos 5 (5420) chipset (quad-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores) paired with hexa-core ARM Mali-T628 GPU and 3GB of RAM. They will also include an 8-megapixel rear camera with full HD 1080p video recording, and 2.1-megapixel front facing cameras. On the software front, they will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, wrapped under Samsung’s new Magazine UI.
The event on Thursday kicks off at 19:00 EDT or 04:30AM IST. Samsung has also put up a countdown video to the event, which can be viewed below.
