Facebook announced at its F8 conference that it will be bringing group calling and Sticker Reactions to WhatsApp soon. While we’ve already seen the group calling feature being rolled out, a new report also suggests the latest beta version to carry support for stickers. However, the feature is disabled at the moment, and is said to be accessible with the next release.
WABetaInfo spotted the stickers in the new update, submitted by WhatsApp in the Google Play Beta program. The website states that WhatsApp added support for stickers in the 2.18.120 update, but has disabled the feature for development reasons and might very soon roll them out.
Once enabled, users will see a sticker button right next to emoji and GIF options on the keyboard. Similar to Messenger, WhatsApp stickers will also come in packs and will require data to be downloaded on the device. Once downloaded though, they can used end number of times. There are four reaction packs that include LOL, Love, Sad, and Wow. Each category has a variety of stickers available within it. There is also an add button here, which means more categories and stickers are expected to be added in the future.
Watch: Apple iOS 12 features
That said, the group video and voice calling feature has already been enabled and is rolling out to some iOS and Android beta users. The feature supports video calling with up to four people, including the user who initiates it. Non-beta Android users can also be a part of group calls, but only when invited by another participant. WhatsApp is expected to release a final version of the update for everybody soon.
