For some time now, we’ve been hearing of a potential integration of WhatsApp with YouTube. It now appears that WhatsApp has begun rolling out this feature to iOS users. With this new update, you can watch YouTube videos without leaving the app. It is similar to watching videos on Facebook itself. Until now, the feature was only available to beta users.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature will only be available for users who have updated their WhatsApp to the latest version from the App Store. The new updated version will be 2.18.11 and is said brings bug fixes and general improvements.

Adding YouTube support means WhatsApp will allow users to play YouTube video links in a picture-in-picture mode. The floating window that appears on the screen can be resized using pinch-to-zoom gesture. Further, the app will also give users an option to open the video in fullscreen mode and hide the chat window. According to the report, users won’t be able to continue watching the video once they leave the app, or switch to any other chat window. There is, however, no word on when this feature will be rolled out for Android users.

WhatsApp lately has been making many new changes to its platform. WhatsApp for iOS has now been updated with a new feature that allows a user to record hands-free voice messages. You need to follow press and hold the microphone icon to start recording. While recording, you will notice another lock icon just above the mic. Just swipe your thumb up and the recording will be locked. Release your thumb and it lets you continue recording.
