WhatsApp is working on another new feature for its messaging application. From information currently circulating online, it seems to be aimed at making GIF search easier.
In the upcoming WhatsApp version 2.18.93 update, which was seen on the Google Play Beta Program, the new feature spotted allows you to access GIFs by sorting them into broad categories. This report was shared by WABetaInfo, which says that the new feature is currently left disabled by developers for further refinement, but it should find its way to a stable version soon.
Currently, you can search GIFs on the app, but only a select categories have been formed. With the update, WhatsApp is expected to add more categories. WABetaInfo reports that the advanced GIF search feature will also likely add the ability to bookmark GIFs which can be saved for quick access. We are guessing a similar structure of GIF search to what we saw on Instagram (which was recently withdrawn).
Just a week ago, WhatsApp updated the app to rollout features such as group description, a feature to search participants, the ease of switching between voice and video calls, among others. The update has come to iOS, Android and Windows Phone users.
Quite recently, WhatsApp also added UPI based cashless payments option to the application, which allows you to send and receive money from other WhatsApp users. The feature, however, hasn’t rolled out to all, and isn’t functional yet. The latest app version of WhatsApp also extended the time of ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature to 4,096 seconds, which is about 68 minutes and 16 seconds.
