Facebook-owned multi-media messaging platform WhatsApp has been marred with controversies in the recent past. These controversies primarily focus on the issue of fake news and disinformation that is prevalent on the platform. The company has issued a number of updates to the platform but nothing has really worked. In fact, the Government of India has started looking at ways to block apps such as WhatsApp in situations that may present harm to the national or local security. According to a new report by WABetaInfo, the company seems to be working on a revamped layout for its “Report” feature of how it lets its users submit reports against any other WhatsApp groups or users.

The report goes on to state that the company has started testing the new layout of the “Report” feature for its beta users on Android in version 2.18.246. It notes that the “Report” feature is not something new but as part of the new layout, the feature will show a new pop-up alert when the user taps on the “Report” button for any individual chats or groups. The new layout allows users to both the contact in case of an individual, or exit the group in case the user is reporting a group to WhatsApp.

According to the report, users also get the option to delete all the messages present in that individual chat or the group. It is likely that this layout is not the final and WhatsApp is likely to make changes after user feedback.

This comes right after it was reported that WhatsApp is working on Picture-in-Picture mode for YouTube, and Instagram videos.
