WhatsApp Business, a new app aimed at businesses connecting with customers via WhatsApp has been launched on Play Store. The app is available starting today and is free to download in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the UK and the US and will be rolled out around the world in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp For Business was launched last year as a way to help small businesses connect with their customers. The service allows businesses connect with over 1.3 billion users using the messaging platform to communicate with their family and friends. WhatsApp says its Business platform is already being adopted by online clothing companies in India to auto parts stores in Brazil.
With WhatsApp Business, the Facebook-owned social messaging platform wants to give businesses more controls as how to how they communicate with their customers. The app will allow businesses to create profiles with useful information such as a business description, email or store addresses, and website.
It will also have messaging tools to save time like quick replies that provide fast answers to frequently asked questions, greeting messages when a user interacts with a business for the first time and away messages when the business is offline. The app also provides messaging statistics like the number of messages read to see what’s working.
Other features include WhatsApp Web to send and receive messages with WhatsApp Business from the desktop and account type allowing clear distinction between a normal profile and a business account. “Over time, some businesses will have Confirmed Accounts once it’s been confirmed that the account phone number matches the business phone number,” WhatsApp said in a release.
WhatsApp claims that over 80 percent of small businesses in India and Brazil say that the app helps them both communicate with customers and grow their business. WhatsApp Business app will help more effective communication in a fast and simple way.
