Windows 8 logo goes ‘Metro’, drops the iconic flag
Keeping in line with the total reboot boot of the Windows branding, Microsoft has now even redesigned the logo for its upcoming operating system Windows 8. Gone are the now iconic Window flags and in comes the Metro style Window pane shaped logo which embodies the Metro design language with it straight lines, simplicity and clarity.
Microsoft will integrate the new logo in the new ‘charms’ menu in Windows 8, where it will adopt the color pallet of the theme being used by the user.
“We wanted the new logo to be both modern and classic,” says Microsoft’s Sam Moreau. The logo uses flat colors and clean lines and shapes to convey the message of Metro and will change color based on the core theme color used in Windows 8. “When you change your color, the logo changes to reflect you,” explained Moreau.
