Windows 8 Pro retail package to cost $199 after $69.99 promotion expires: Report
While we have known for some time that the upgrade path from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro will cost $39.99, a stand-alone copy of Windows 8 Pro is going to cost $199, reports TheVerge. Microsoft will offer the Windows 8 Pro retail package for $69.99 till January 31, 2013 but it will start charging $199 after the promotion expires.
In addition to this, it has been revealed that Windows 8 users who want upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will have to pay $99 after the January 31, 2013 promotion expires. Before January 31, 2013, even this upgrade is going to cost $69.99. Apart from this Microsoft has already begun taking registrations for the Rs 699 upgrade for people who purchased a PC after June 2, 2012. This offer will also be valid till January 31, 2013.
