This Friday, the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea were kicked off. To mark the occasion, Google celebrated the day with a doodle on its homepage, with animated snow games. Now, the search giant has released another of such an animation to mark the second day.
The doodle illustrates a Magpie, a turtle which is a good luck symbol in Korea. “After a slow start in these games, Turtle is determined to curl with the best of them. This amateur turned profe-shell-nel athlete has stepped into the rink sporting a stone-y look of concentration,” Google writes in a blog.
This doodle is second in a series of 17 that are to follow for the winter games. There will be one marking every day of the Winter Olympics that’ll go on from February 9 to February 25.
As Google wrote in its blog on Day 1 of the games, “new friendships are bound to crystallize before the end of the games,” no matter who wins. The Olympics Winter Games will see more than 2,000 athletes representing 92 countries at 102 events across 15 sports skiing, skating, luge, ski jumping, ice hockey, snowboarding among other games.
This is the first time South Korea is hosting for the gaming event which occurs once in four years with summer and winter sports competitions occuring alternatively.
