Before the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was launched, rumors hinted at a smartphone featuring a Snapdragon 635 SoC. Instead, Xiaomi went with the Snapdragon 625 SoC. For that matter, even the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC. However now, a smartphone by the company dubbed ‘Berlin’ has been leaked on a benchmarking website.
According to a Geekbench screenshot shared by GizmoChina, the ‘Xiaomi Berlin’ was benchmarked in February, 2018. The smartphone is shown running Android 7.1.2 Nougat, and is equipped with 3GB of RAM. The processor is listed as the Snapdragon 635 with six cores, and a base frequency of 1.02GHz. Per the screenshot, the Xiaomi Berlin scored 1,155 in the single-core test, and 2,738 points in the multi-core test.
There is currently no word on when we could seen the launch of this smartphone codenamed Berlin. In the meantime though, Xiaomi has teased a smartphone launch that is to take place on March 14. While the teaser makes no mention of the purported device, reports point towards the launch of the budget Redmi 5 in India. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be the successor to the Redmi 4, which was launched last year and will add to the budget segment. The Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 Plus (Redmi Note 5) are already available in India, and the Redmi 5 will complete the series.
Xiaomi is also preparing to launch the Mi MIX 2s on March 27 in China. The company has confirmed that the Mi MIX 2s will be its first handset with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 processor. And going by the rumors, the smartphone is very likely to feature an iPhone X-like notch.
