Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX 2 in October this year with a price tag of Rs 35,999. The smartphone ran Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. Now, the company has announced an Oreo beta update for Mi MIX 2 on MIUI forum.
Xiaomi revealed on its forum that this will be a closed beta update for Mi MIX 2 users, which means only select users will be allowed to install the Android Oreo-based ROM. Being a beta program, the software will not fully be optimized, and hence users might experience some bugs till a stable version is rolled out later. Xiaomi says that the deadline for the application to enroll for the update is December 24, and eligible members will be selected by December 27.
Recently, we saw the Mi A1 get the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update. So, the Xiaomi Mi A1 will likely be the first phone from the company to get a stable Android Oreo update. The update is expected to roll out in coming weeks.
