Xiaomi just launched a new Dr Bei Sonic Electronic toothbrush in China. The company already has a line of the mechanical toothbrushes, but this would be its first electronic variant. Like many other offbeat innovations from Xiaomi, the electric toothbrush is also being crowdfunded on Xiaomi’s Youpin website. The product is priced at RMB 99 (approximately Rs 1,000) and is expected to start shipping in China on June 20.
As the name suggests, the Dr Bei toothbrush uses Sonic technology, which is also used by some of the premium products in the market. The technology uses two different methods to clean teeth. Beyond just general scrubbing, it also carries out a secondary cleaning action, which ensures the removal of plaque as well. As a result, the Dr Bei electronic toothbrush carries a high frequency vibration of 31000 beats per minute.
The thinner bristles and the smaller head make it easy to reach blind spots. It also supports two different modes called Standard and Soft, which can be adjusted on the basis of your gum sensitivity. Xiaomi has also put-in a gradual start-up mechanism, which prevents you from spilling toothpaste.
The Dr Bei Sonic Electric toothbrush comes with a 700mAh battery that Xiaomi claims can last for 21 days, if used once daily. Its 5V-1A charger also doubles as a kickstand and takes about 4 hours to charge the toothbrush from scratch. The toothbrush also features an IPX7 waterproof build and weighs only 90 grams.

All of Xiaomi’s mechanical toothbrushes were a huge hit in the Chinese market. With premium features and low pricing, there is no doubt about Dr Bei Sonic Electric toothbrush being equally successful. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Xiaomi ever plans on bringing the product to the Indian market anytime soon.
