Xiaomi Mi 6 prices leaked ahead of potential launch in February

Xiaomi Mi 6 could launch as early as February, and has entered mass production.


Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone the Mi 6 has been rumored aggressively for quite some time now. The smartphone has been making news most primarily because it is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 535 chipset. In addition to this, it has also been rumored that the Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphone would be available in three variants differentiated by their processors. The company is expected to launch the Mi 6 next month ahead of Samsung Galaxy S8’s launch, and would also be Xiaomi’s first flagship smartphone of the year. The latest report further confirms this news as it suggests that the Mi 6 has entered into mass production and its prices has also been revealed.

The variant in highlight here is the one with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. Initially, analyst Kevin Wang had predicted that the Mi 6 would come with the Snapdragon 835 chipset. But there had been reports saying that the production would be slow due to delays of Samsung’s 10nm fabrication process which the chipset is being built with. However, as GizmoChina reports, another analyst Sun Changxy has assured that the Snapdragon 835 chipset’s manufacturing is being carried out smoothly.

It is also being reported that Xiaomi has begun mass production of the Mi 6 smartphone. One of the Mi 6 variants alleged to have entered mass production will feature an LCD display, and the other is said to feature an OLED curved display. As for the pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 6 with LCD display is said to be priced at RMB 1,999 (Rs 19,700 approximately) and the OLED version could be priced at RMB 2,499 (Rs 24,700 approximately). So far, Xiaomi has been rumored to launch the Mi 6 in three processor variants, and have been dubbed the Mi 6S, Mi 6E and the Mi 6P. The Xiaomi Mi 6S is said to come with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, the Mi 6E either with a MediaTek Helio chipset or Samsung’s Exynos chipset, while the Mi 6P is speculated to be powered by the company’s own Pinecone chipset. Xiaomi Mi 6 specifications

In terms of specifications, based on the accumulated rumors and leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 6 to come with a 2.5D curved display. The smartphone is said to come with 6GB of RAM and storage options could include 128GB and 256GB. In the photography department, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, the smartphone is expected to house a 4-megapixel selfie camera.

On the software front, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to run on Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under MIUI OS. For power, the smartphone could use a 3,000mAh battery, and could feature USB Type-C support for connectivity. Other than that, the smartphone is said to come with a physical Home button which could double as a fingerprint scanner, and a dual-tone design with metal back. The colors options could be Black, White, and Blue.
