Xiaomi Mi 5X, the dual-camera smartphone which was launched as Mi A1 in India, might be getting a successor soon. The successor to Mi 5X dubbed Mi 6X has leaked via Weibo, indicating the design changes that could be seen on the device.
The leak shows the rear panel of purported Mi 6X, which seems to be along the same lines as that of Mi 5X aka Mi A1. It features a metal body and plastic antenna lines arranged in U shape similar to that of iPhones. However, it does have some differences in terms of design element.
On the leaked Mi 6X, the dual camera module is vertically stacked as opposed to horizontal alignment seen on the Mi A1. Like Apple iPhone X, the rear camera module is placed at the top-left corner with dual-LED flash placed between the two lenses. There is also a circular hole in the middle of the rear panel, which could be the placeholder for fingerprint sensor.
Xiaomi Mi 5X and its Android One variant Mi A1 also feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, but the Mi 6X could well switch to a display supporting 18:9 aspect ratio and thinner bezels than its predecessor. Xiaomi has already launched Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with thin bezels, and is also rumored to be working on Mi Max 3 phablet with bezel-less design.
The new leak showing rear panel of Mi 6X is the not first leak of the device. A photo of TPU case for the Mi 6X had leaked earlier with the transparent silicone case showing the speaker grill at the bottom with 3.5mm headphone jack. The features and specifications of the device remain unknown at this point.
There have been rumors of Xiaomi working on Mi A2, the successor to company’s first Android One device. It is safe to assume that the Mi A2 will be based on Mi 6X and some rumors point at the device getting Snapdragon 636 chipset and option for up to 6GB RAM. However, these details emerging out of China should be taken with a pinch of salt and the image itself could turn out to be fake at a later stage.
