It’s Friday April 20, and as we gear up for the weekend to rest and relax, there were some interesting things that happened today. In the run up to the event, Xiaomi has once again teased the selfie camera sample shot on the Mi 6X which is set to launch next week. New reports suggest that the Mi 7 could feature a 3D sensing camera for authentication, OnePlus 6 mockup concept video surface ahead of launch. And lastly, Vivo has launched a new variant of the recently launch V9 smartphone called V9 Youth. Let’s take a look at these top news stories of the day.
Xiaomi Mi 6X selfie samples teased
After teasing the Mi 6X through official photos and a promotional video, Xiaomi has now released selfies captured from the smartphone’s 20-megapixel front camera. The selfies captured from the Mi 6X show off the portrait blur effect for the front camera. While the photos look great, they look too professional for a smartphone camera. The smartphone is set to launch on April 25 in China.
Vivo V9 Youth launched in India
Vivo has added a new smartphone called Vivo V9 Youth to its lineup in India. With dual cameras at the back and AI-enabled selfie camera, the smartphone is priced at Rs 18,999. The specifications and features are same as the Vivo V9, expect for one small change, it runs on a Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC, compared to Snapdragon 626 octa-core SoC on the Vivo V9.
OnePlus 6 concept video surface
OnePlus is all set to launch its flagship smartphone soon, and ahead of the official launch, concept mock-up video has surfaced. The video shows off the OnePlus 6 design from every angle, which is based on the leaked renders, and rumors. You can see the full screen display with notch, and dual rear cameras among other design elements. The smartphone is expected to launch by the end of May.
Xiaomi Mi 7 to feature 3D facial recognition
The Xiaomi Mi 7 will reportedly feature a 3D sensing camera, just like the TrueDepth sensor on the Apple iPhone X. It will be able to recognize your face, even if you are wearing a hat, sunglasses, or even if grown a beard. However, the report states that it will only be launched in Q3 2018, which starts in July. Difficulty in manufacturing the components, and integrating software with hardware is one of the reasons for the delay.
Amazon “Alexa Blueprints” launched
Amazon has launched a new tool that lets you customize Alexa. Called Alexa Blueprints, the tool aims to allow non-coders build new Alexa skills and responses. To use the tool, you need to visit blueprints.amazon.com and select a template or blueprint. Do note that it is only available for English US language, so you may have to go into Settings to change the language.
Using the tool, you can add custom Q&A, fairytales, house guest, bachelorette party, birthday trivia, in categories ranging from Home, Fun and Games, Learning and Knowledge, and StoryTeller.
