Last week, a listing on the official MWC 2018 website confirmed that Xiaomi will be participating at the annual expo. Cue a wave of leaks around Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphones. The Chinese company is widely expected to take the wraps off its next flagship smartphone at the expo, and a leak now shows what the Mi 7 could look like.
An alleged press render of the Xiaomi Mi 7 has surfaced online showing its front and back sides. Spotted by Techlector, the overall design seen in the render is quite reminiscent of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Quite unsurprisingly, Xiaomi is opting for the bezel-less design language, but we have to admit the Mi 7 does look better than the Mi MIX 2. That said, with such early press renders, it is advisable to take it with the proverbial pinch of salt.
The design of the back panel is quite minimal with just the dual-camera setup, LED flash, fingerprint sensor, and the Mi logo seen. A previous leak has hinted that the back panel will be encased in glass, which could be a hint towards a possible wireless charging feature.
The front is dominated by the display, which stretches to all corners. The smartphone is rumored to flaunt a 6-inch AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung. The top bezel is slightly thicker than the rest, which is because it is likely to house the earpiece, sensors, and selfie camera.
Based on what we have come across so far, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will no doubt be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 SoC. This means, Xiaomi’s smartphone will join the likes of Samsung Galaxy S9, Sony Xperia XZ Pro, and LG G7 in boasting Qualcomm’s latest chipset.
The Mi 7 is also speculated to come with a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support, and 6GB of RAM. Interestingly, certain rumors claim that in addition to the fingerprint sensor, the Mi 7 will also come with Apple iPhone X-like facial unlock technology.
