Xiaomi’s May 31 mega event is just a couple of days away, but there seems to be no stopping the leaks. Now, an alleged retail box of the Xiaomi Mi 8 has surfaced online giving us a glimpse at some of the key specifications, and features.

The retail box photos have surfaced online courtesy of Slashleaks. A couple of features mentioned on the box are in line with what has leaked before. These include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage. There is also a dual-camera setup at the back with at least one of the sensors being 20-megapixels.

Interestingly, the box also hints at a dual-GPS module, which is not something we have seen on smartphones before. It remains to be seen just how much difference having two GPS modules on a smartphone makes. The front of the box confirms the Mi 8 nomenclature with a large ‘8’ and the Mi logo. Slashleaks has also leaked what seems like a promotional poster, which shows what the upcoming smartphone will look like.

Based on what we have come across so far, the Xiaomi Mi 8 is also expected to feature a 6.2-inch full HD+ (2280×1080 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio, and a notch at the top.

There is also likely to be a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, 3,300mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support, and an under-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. There have also been reports about the smartphone boasting a 3D face recognition system just like the Apple iPhone X.

While all eyes will no doubt be on the Xiaomi Mi 8, the Chinese company is also expected to take the wraps off more products. Hardware products reportedly include Mi Band 3, and potentially the Mi Note 5. On the software side of things, Xiaomi is also expected to unveil MIUI 10.
