Earlier today, Xiaomi launched the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite smartphones in Madrid, Spain. Both smartphones feature dual rear cameras with AI portrait mode, Android One OS, and more. While the Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with 18:9 display and Snapdragon 660 SoC, the Mi A2 Lite comes with a notched display with 19:9 aspect ratio and Snapdragon 625 SoC. Xiaomi mentioned that the Mi A2 will launch in India, but there are no plans to launch the Mi A2 Lite as of now. Now, the Mi A2 will launch in India on August 8, but no further details are available at the moment.
Xiaomi Mi A2 expected pricing
There are three variants to choose from. The base model with 32GB storage and 4GB of RAM is priced a €249 (approximately Rs 20,000). The variant with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM is priced at €279 (approximately Rs 22,500), whereas the top variant with 128GB storage and 6GB of RAM is priced at €349 (approximately Rs 28,100). The pricing is quite steep considering that the Mi A1 was launched in India for Rs 14,999. It remains to be seen how aggressive Xiaomi can get with its pricing in India.

Xiaomi Mi A2 specifications, features
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is essentially the global variant of the Xiaomi Mi 6X that was launched in China earlier this year. While Mi 6X runs on Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.5, the Mi A2 runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo, with Android One program.
As for specifications, the Mi A2 flaunts a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with an octa-core CPU. For shutterbugs, there is a dual-camera setup at the back – a combination of 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture, accompanied with a 12-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.75 aperture. The camera is back by AI chops for automatic scene selection. For selfies, there is a 20-megapixel camera with soft light LED flash. The front camera too supports AI scene detection, which is optimized to detect 12 self-portrait scenes.
Armed with a 3,000mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0 support, connectivity options include USB Type-C port, dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE, and GPS. For biometric authentication, there is a fingerprint sensor at the back, and the phone also features face unlock. The Mi A2 ditches the headphone jack, and comes with USB Type-C audio support.
