In the run up to the 72nd Independence Day in India, various smartphone brands have been showering offers and sales. Besides, Xiaomi also launched its second Android One smartphone in India with a promise to fulfill inventory requirements. While some smartphone companies are still struggling to update to Android Oreo, some may have already started updating to Android 9.0 Pie. Xiaomi Mi A2 India launch, Prices and Sale

Xiaomi launched the second Android One smartphone in its portfolio today in India – the Xiaomi Mi A2. The handset was has arrived in India after a global launch in Spain happened on July 24. About the prices, the Xiaomi Mi A2 will start from Rs 16,999, and it is set to be available from August 16.

Pre-order starts on mi.com and Amazon India from August 9. If you pre-order the Xiaomi Mi A2, it will be shipped in within a week’s time, said Manu Kumar Jain during the launch event. Buyers will be entitled to Rs 2,200 cashback from Reliance Jio, as well as 4.5TB worth of free data.

Flipkart is looking to expand Smart Buy to take on Amazon India

Flipkart after the Walmart acquisition is now looking to expand its operations in India in a big way to take on arch-rival Amazon India. According to a report, Flipkart is planning to boost the presence of its private label Smart Buy brand, by taking the brand into new product categories. Smart Buy is essentially Flipkart’s answer to AmazonBasics.

Smart Buy is currently active in various categories such as mobile accessories, audio and entertainment electronics, home appliances, furnishings, personal grooming equipment, home use goods and more.

Nokia 7 Plus receiving stable Android 9.0 Pie OTA update

It seems Nokia 7 Plus is getting access to the stable version of Android 9.0 Pie, thus making it the first non-Google smartphone to receive the latest software. The report by Nokia Power User today tipped an image of a Nokia 7 Plus device receiving the Android 9 Pie update as an OTA package. The size of the update package is 1173MB.

The key new features of Android 9.0 Pie for Nokia 7 Plus include “simpler ways to navigate your phone”, “recommended apps and actions based on your context” and the “adaptive battery and brightness”.

Samsung mid-range devices to get Oreo update

While the latest Android 9.0 is called the Android Pie, Samsung is still struggling to roll out Android Oreo updates for their smartphones. Today, screenshots showing an alleged roadmap for Android Oreo update roll out for Samsung’s mid-range devices surfaced online. These screenshots show a timeframe for when some of the mid-range Samsung devices can expect an Android Oreo update. The roll out will continue through March 2019 for devices like the Galaxy J7 Max, and the Galaxy J7 (2016). You can checkout the full list in the story below.

OnePlus 6 offer of Rs 2000 extra discount on Amazon India

During the Amazon Freedom Sale, those who buy OnePlus 6 will be eligible for six months no-cost EMI. The offer will be applicable across both Amazon India, and OnePlus offline channels. The no-cost EMI option for six months starts at Rs 5,833 per month, and customers will be eligible for additional Rs 2,000 discount on exchange of old phones.

In addition to these basic offers, OnePlus 6 buyers will also receive 10 percent instant discount on all SBI debit and credit cards on Amazon India. Customers purchasing OnePlus 6 during Amazon Freedom Sale will also receive 20 percent discount on OnePlus branded accessories.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Asus Zenfone 5Z extra Rs 500 offer for all

In anticipation of India’s 72nd Independence Day, Asus today announced some discount offers on two of its smartphones for Flipkart’s upcoming ‘Big Freedom Sale’. The two Asus smartphones that will be up for grabs under the offer are the Zenfone Max Pro (M1), and the Zenfone 5Z.

Consumers purchasing the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 as part of Flipkart’s Big Freedom Sale will be able to avail Rs 500 discount on both 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants. With the available discount of Rs 500, you’ll get these for Rs 10,499 and Rs 12,499, respectively. The 6GB RAM variant isn’t part of this sale, and will continue to be available for Rs 14,999. There is an additional cashback of up to 10 percent with a Citibank credit card as well.
