The Xiaomi Mi A2 is set to be launched on July 24 in Madrid, Spain, and new leaked renders give us our best look at what the upcoming device will be like. The Mi A2 is the successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi A1, which was the Chinese smartphone maker’s first device to run on the Android One platform instead of MIUI. The Mi A2 is also an Android One device, but will see big upgrades in hardware and design over its predecessor.
The leaked renders come courtesy of MySmartPrice, which got the renders from Twitter user @IshanAgarwal24. The Mi A2 is, in terms of hardware, the same phone as the Xiaomi Mi 6X, which was launched in China running on MIUI earlier this year. The biggest difference is the software, with the Mi A2 a part of the Android One program and running stock Android. The phone will come with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, with the stock Android user interface on top. The renders also show three color variants – black, gold and red.

Notably, there is no notched screen on the Mi A2, as has been suggested in a recent report on the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, which could launch alongside the phone. These renders show the Mi A2 sporting a 6-inch full-HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio screen. And based on the specifications of the Mi 6X, the Mi A2 will come with the Qualcomm Snadpragon 660 SoC, up to 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. Being an Android One device will mean that the phone will receive faster, and more frequent Android updates as well.

The phone will also come with a dual-camera setup at the rear, sporting a 12-megapixel primary sensor and 20-megapixel secondary sensor that enables lossless zoom and depth-effect for portrait shots. The front camera is expected to be a 20-megapixel shooter, and the phone will use a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfers. The phone is expected to go on sale in India soon after launch, and could be priced at around the Rs 15,000 mark, similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi A1.
