Since the launch of Xiaomi Mi 6X, there has been an understanding that the same device will get rebranded as the next Android One smartphone from Xiaomi dubbed Xiaomi Mi A2. The leaks for Mi A2 have been around for a while now, but the company is taking a little longer to launch the smartphone, although the difference is only in the software.

On Wednesday, SlashLeaks posted a live image of the alleged Mi A2 running Android 8.1.0 Oreo with May 5, 2018 security patch. The UI appears to be stock Android and we know Xiaomi Mi A2 will run stock Android, as part of the Android One program.

Watch: Asus Zenfone 5Z

Reportedly, the Mi A2 was listed on a Swiss website earlier, but the listing was taken down. The website purportedly noted the sale date of August 8. It recently received NCC certification as well, confirming its existence. Apparently, there was a detailed hands-on video of the Mi A2 was on YouTube by Spanish YouTubers, but it was taken down soon after.

Apart from stock Android from Google, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is likely to boast same set of specifications as the Xiaomi Mi 6X, which is Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6-inch 1080×2160 18:9 display, 4GB of RAM, dual 12-megapixel + 20-megapixel rear camera, a 3010mAh battery and a a 20-megapixel front selfie camera with flash. About the design, we don’t expect the Mi A2 to be any different from Mi 6X.
