Xiaomi has today taken the wraps off two smartphones at an event in Spain. As expected, these are the Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite. Both smartphones are part of Google’s Android One program, and run stock Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. Read on for all the details on the two new smartphones.
Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite prices
In the case of Xiaomi Mi A2, buyers will be able to choose from three variants. The base model with 32GB+4GB RAM is priced a €249 (approximately Rs 20,000). The mid-variant with 64GB+4GB RAM, and top variant with 128GB+6GB RAM are priced at €279 (approximately Rs 22,500), and €349 (approximately Rs 28,100) respectively. Buyers will be able to choose from three color options – black, blue, and gold.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand, will be available in 32GB+3GB RAM, and 64GB+4GB RAM variants. The base model is priced at €179 (approximately Rs 14,400), while the top variant is priced at €229 (approximately Rs 18,400).
Xiaomi Mi A2 specifications, features
As we have reported before, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is essentially an international variant of the Xiaomi Mi 6X. While the design and specifications remain the same, the differentiator is the operating system. Where the Mi 6X ran Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.5, the Mi A2 runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo.
As for specifications, the Mi A2 flaunts a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset. For photography, there is a dual-camera setup at the back. This includes a combination of 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture, and 12-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.75 aperture. The camera is back by AI chops for automatic scene selection. For selfies, there is a 20-megapixel camera with soft light LED flash. The front camera too supports AI scene detection, which is optimized to detect 12 self-portrait scenes.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 also features a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support using the USB Type-C port, a fingerprint sensor at the back, and face unlock feature.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite specifications, features
As the name suggests, this is basically a ‘Lite’ version of the Mi A2. In line with the leaks, the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite features a smaller 5.84-inch FHD+ display but with a notch at the top, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset.
For photography, there is a dual-camera setup at the back with AI portrait mode. It includes a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. Up front is a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies. Making sure everything ticks is a 4,000mAh battery that the company says is good enough to two-day usage.
