With the launch of the Mi MIX last year, Xiaomi became the first company to release a bezel-less smartphone. Though exclusively released in its home country, the smartphone witnessed immense popularity. Soon after, Xiaomi came out to officially announce the successor of the Mi MIX being under-works, which is also being designed by Philippe Starck. Ever since, there have been a myriad of leaks around the device. However, now the leaks have graduated to speculating the date of launch. And in a latest report, the launch date of the Mi MIX 2 seems to have been made official.
A recent post on Weibo, which was spotted by 9To5Google, reveals a teaser shared by Xiaomi for an event that is being held on September 11. The image shows a rock formation with a smartphone outline above it, and below is text that reveals the event will be focused on the upcoming Mi MIX 2. Interestingly, Apple iPhone 8 release is supposed to be held on September 12. Stealing the thunder, are they?
Similar to its successor, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is believed to feature a display with very minimal bezels surrounding it, however, it would be sleeker this time around. Last year’s Mi MIX featured an impressive 91.3-percent screen-to-body ratio, but with the Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi is rumored to kick things up a notch with a 93-percent ratio.
