Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, the next smartphone in the Chinese company’s MIX series, is now expected to get rid of the chin as well. The smartphone has been part of multiple leaks and it has appeared in the form of hands-on images and renders as well. Now, a purported live image of the upcoming flagship has made its way to the internet as well.
The latest live image of the Mi MIX 3 appeared on Weibo, China’s micro-blogging platform. In the leaked image, it is evident that Xiaomi is aiming to make an all display smartphone with no notch or chin similar to the Vivo NEX and Oppo Find X. The leaked image of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 also has an interesting trivia: it seems to be running the current version of MIUI 9. The smartphone shows the initial setup screen on the display that clearly brands the MIUI 9.
This suggests that Xiaomi has already begun testing the device with its current MIUI 9, but eventually launch it with MIUI 10. Apart from the all-screen design, Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is also expected to pack a pop-up selfie camera similar to that of Vivo NEX. Xiaomi was one of the first smartphone brands to adopt thin bezel design with displays that support taller aspect ratio.
With original Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi opted to put the front camera on the chin and successfully eliminated the top bezel. With Mi MIX 3, Xiaomi might be copying the work of Vivo and Oppo to offer both all-screen design and a pop-up selfie camera. The Mi MIX 3 is also expected to come with a higher screen-to-body ratio.

The smartphone should be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or a newer processor depending on the launch timeline. It will feature dual rear camera on the back but details of the configuration remains scant at this moment. It is also expected to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and a leaked teaser hints at a September launch for the smartphone.
