The rumor mills are abuzz ahead of Xiaomi’s May 31 launch event in China. While MIUI 10, the flagship Mi 8, and the Mi Band 3 are expected to be unveiled, there could be other products too. One of them could be a smartphone dubbed Mi Note 5, which has surfaced online.
Alleged promotional material depicting the Xiaomi Mi Note 5 has surfaced online in China. The leaked image hints at some of the specifications and features of the upcoming device. These include a 5.99-inch Full Screen 2.0 design. The Full Screen design is essentially reserved for the Mi MIX series, and it will be interesting to see if the bezel-less design is extended to the Mi Note series as well.
Other rumored features include last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage, support for 43 LTE bands, and 4-axis optical stabilization for the camera. The image additionally reveals that the Mi Note 5 could be launched with a price tag of RMB 2,299 (approximately Rs 24,400).
As with such leaks, we would strongly advise you take it with the proverbial pinch of salt. It remains to be seen if Xiaomi indeed unveils the Mi Note 5 at its May 31 event in China. As the name suggests, it will be the successor to the Mi Note 3, which was launched back in September last year. The ‘5’ in the nomenclature isn’t surprising, since ‘4’ is considered to be an unlucky number in China. Take for example, OnePlus, which launched the OnePlus 5 after the OnePlus 3, and OnePlus 3T.
