Xiaomi has revealed a few more details about the Redmi 1S at an event in Delhi. The entry-level smartphone will go on sale on September 2, priced at Rs 5,999 — down from the Rs 6,999 launch price. Registrations for the smartphone will kick start at 6:00PM today on Flipkart.

As we reported yesterday, Xiaomi will follow the same flash sale model for the Redmi 1S. So essentially, once the registration window opens at 6:00PM today, you will have to pre-register to stand a chance to buy the phone on September 2. Unlike the Mi 3 however, Xiaomi has promised that there will be more units of the Redmi 1S available on launch.

To recap on the specifications, the Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch HD 720p display with Dragontrail glass protection, and is powered by a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Also featured is 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage that can be further expanded using the microSD card slot, and a 2,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean wrapped under Xiaomi’s MIUI.

Xiaomi has also launched accessories with the Redmi 1S that include screen protectors in shiny and matte finishes for Rs 179, a back cover for Rs 469, and a flip cover for Rs 559. Every unit of the Redmi 1S will also come with two free SIM-card trays.

The Redmi 1S — at Rs 5,999 — has been priced to blow away all the competition. While the Motorola Moto E changed the face of the entry-level segment in India, the Redmi 1S offers much more in terms of specifications and features, and will set a new standard.

Does Redme 1S support Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamail ?

Hindi, yes! Other language maybe later. And i believe people buying from flipkart have basic understanding of English language. And products are limited and will not be available to all.
