The Redmi 5 was launched in China in December last year alongside a larger model called Redmi 5 Plus. The company rebranded Redmi 5 Plus as Redmi Note 5 in India, and the Redmi 5 comes in as the successor to last year’s Redmi 4. The Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 were the best-selling smartphones in India last year, and with Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5, Xiaomi would be hoping to replicate that success.
