Buying a smartphone is often a difficult task, especially now when there are a lot of options to choose from. Today, the popular Xiaomi Redmi 5A is going on sale at 12PM on mi.com/in and Flipkart. Huawei’s flagship smartphone, the P20 Pro with triple rear cameras, and the mid-range P20 Lite are also going on sale.

Also, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 that recently made the waves is also going on pre-order today. Now, while all of these smartphones are placed in different price segments, we help you decide and buy the one that would suit your budget and needs.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Priced at Rs 5,999, the smartphone is an entry-level device, perfect for first time smartphone buyers. Despite the ultra-affordable price tag, the Redmi 5A packs in good hardware. You get a 5-inch HD display, 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, and a decent 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera. There is also a variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

For customers who will be switching from a feature phone to a smartphone, the Redmi 5A is one of the interesting options. And the hardware is good enough for using apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and playing some casual games. It is also ideal for those who are looking for a secondary backup smartphone without having to spend a lot of money.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1

With a fierce competition from the likes of Xiaomi, and other manufacturers, Asus has also gone aggressive with its offering. The company announced its partnership with Flipkart to exclusively sell the new Zenfone Max Pro M1, and its immediate competitors are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Honor 9 Lite. Asus has also managed to create a buzz around the Zenfone Max Pro Mi, but what is so special about it?

Well, to begin with, it is a strong contender in the budget segment. You get a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, there are dual cameras at the back to help you capture photos with DSLR-like bokeh effects, and it runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It is powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, and prices start at Rs 10,999.

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is for those who are looking for a good budget smartphone that offers specifications and features that matters. And with stock Android, Asus is assuring timely software updates. It is Rs 4,000 cheaper compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which has availability issues due to low stocks, thus making it a perfect alternative.

Huawei P20 Lite

Huawei has made its comeback in India with two new smartphones. The P20 Lite is a mid-range smartphone that brings the best mix of style, specifications and features without causing a hole in your pocket. Priced at Rs 19,999 and available exclusively via Amazon India, it features a front and back glass design that looks and feels premium.

The key highlights of the smartphone is the 5.84-inch full HD+ display with an iPhone X-like notch on top. Besides the design, the highlight of the Huawei P20 Lite is the dual camera setup at the back – a 16-megapixel primary sensor along with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor to add DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos. There is also a 24-megapixel front camera with support for 3D lighting to help you capture selfies with studio-like lighting effects.

Huawei P20 Pro

The Huawei P20 Pro is special in its own way, and the key highlight is the triple camera setup at the back. The flagship smartphone from Huawei is priced at Rs 64,999 and it is also an Amazon India exclusive. Just like the P20 Lite, the Pro model also comes with a ‘notch’ above the display.

The P20 Pro is aimed at customers who want a camera-centric smartphone that can click excellent photos in any lighting conditions. The setup includes a 40-megapixel primary sensor, a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens. The setup lets you capture high-resolution photos, and true black and white photos too. The telephoto lens enables 3X optical lossless zoom, and 5X hybrid zoom, without losing much details.

Huawei has also included a night mode that lets you capture crisp and detailed photos in low-light, with less or no graniness at all. We have reviewed the smartphone, and the triple camera definitely clicks better photos than most competitors out there. If camera is your preference, then the P20 Pro could be something looking into.
