Xiaomi is gearing up to host a massive event in China on May 31 to celebrate its eight anniversary. While all the attention is on the flagship Mi 8, a smartphone from the company’s Redmi series too could be unveiled at the said event. Alleged photos of the Xiaomi Redmi 6 have surfaced online, and its specifications and features too have been revealed on TENAA.
Alleged real-life photos of the Xiaomi Redmi 6 have surfaced online courtesy of MyDrivers. These photos show the front and back of the smartphone, and more importantly, highlight the display notch. The bezels around the screen aren’t exactly slim, and the bottom chin specially is quite generous.
The device features a metal back body with slim antenna lines at the top and bottom. Along with the fingerprint sensor, you can also see the vertically-stacked dual-camera modules at the top-left corner. An LED flash is sandwiched between the two camera lenses.
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 has also been spotted on TENAA listed under the model number M1804C3DE. As per the listing, the smartphone features a 5.45-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The only other information is that the device runs Android OS, and is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi’s Redmi and Redmi Note series are quite popular in India. Looking at the leaked photos, Xiaomi seems to be bringing some of the trendier features to its budget portfolio.
It remains to be seen if Xiaomi unveils the Redmi 6 at its May 31 event, or host a separate launch event at a later date. On May 31, Xiaomi is expected to take the wraps off the Mi 8 Anniversary Edition smartphone, as well as MIUI 10.
