As expected, Xiaomi has unveiled two new smartphones in the Redmi 6-series in China today. The Redmi 6 is the successor to the Redmi 5, whereas the Redmi 6A is the successor to the Redmi 5A. Both smartphones come with a full view 18:9 display, Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 10 on top, and more. Here’s a look at the detailed price, specifications and features of the smartphone.
Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 price
The Redmi 6A is priced at RMB 599, which is approximately Rs 6,300. The Redmi 6, on the other hand, is offered in two storage variants – the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage priced at RMB 799, which roughly translates to Rs 8,500, whereas the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage model priced at RMB 999, which is approximately Rs 10,500.
There is no word on when the smartphones will be launched in India, but considering the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A were launched in India, we can expect the smartphones to eventually come to the Indian shores.

Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 specifications and features
Both smartphones come with a 5.45-inch HD+ display that runs at a resolution of 1440x720pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Connectivity options on both smartphones are also the same, which includes dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE HD voice calling, Wi-Fi and GPS. However, the differences come in the form of the cameras, storage, RAM and the chipset powering the smartphone.
The Redmi 6A is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core SoC fabricated on 12nm process, and clocked at 2GHz. It is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot for further expansion. In terms of optics, the smartphone comes with a single rear camera of 13-megapixel resolution with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. The Redmi 6A also supports face unlock and ditches the fingerprint sensor.
The Redmi 6, on the other hand, is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core SoC fabricated on 12nm process, and clocked at 2GHz. It is offered in two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. In the photography department, the Redmi 6 comes with dual cameras at the back – a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Up front is a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone also comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back. To keep things ticking, both smartphones are armed with a 3,000mAh battery.
