Xiaomi today launched two new smartphones called the Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A. The two phones are naturally the successors of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A respectively, and come with notable upgrades. Xiaomi Redmi 5A vs Redmi 6A: Pricing and Availability
Xiaomi launched two variants of the Redmi 5A at 5,999 (2GB+16GB), and Rs 6,999 (3GB+32GB) in India. Xiaomi plans on having a sale on its website for the Redmi 5A on June 14 at 12PM. On the other hand, the Indian pricing for the Redmi 6A hasn’t been revealed yet, but if we take into consideration the Chinese pricing of RMB 599, then it roughly translates to Rs 6,300 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant.

While the Redmi 5A comes with 5-inch HD (720×1280) screen, with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio, the Redmi 6A joins the current trend of taller displays, featuring 5.45-inch HD+ (720×1440) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
On the hardware side of things, both phones come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. However, the Redmi 5A is also available in higher variant, which features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The Redmi 5A comes with a Snapdragon 425 SoC, which consists of four cores and maximum clock speeds of 1.5GHz. On the other hand, the Redmi 6A flaunts a newer MediaTek Helio P22 quad-core chipset, which comes with clock speeds of 2.0GHz. Besides that, both phones are backed by a 3,000mAh battery under the hood.

Both Redmi 5A and the Redmi 6A come with a 12-megapixel camera at the rear, and a 5-megapixel camera at the front. However, the cameras on the Redmi 6A are supported by AI Portrat mode, which should help it to take better images of the selfie camera.
On the software front, the Redmi 5A runs Android 7.1 Nougat layered with MIUI 9, while the Redmi 6A runs the newer Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10. The new MIUI 10 comes with interesting features. It allows you to multitask better, thanks to the redesigned recent apps page. It’s also AI integrated and comes with plenty of features catered towards the Indian market. The software has also been optimized for Redmi 6A, making it more memory efficient by 30 percent.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A vs Redmi 6A: Connectivity and other features
Not a lot has changed here. Both phones support dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Both phones do not have fingerprint sensors, and are dependent on traditional Android security systems. The Redmi 5A features a plastic unibody design, while the Redmi 6A feature a polycarbonate build, which is known to be sturdier. Both phones are available in Grey, Blue, Gold and Rose Gold colors.
