Earlier today, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 2 Prime in India, which is its first ‘Made in India’ handset. With that out of the way, all eyes will be on the Redmi Note 2, which is widely expected to be unveiled on August 13 in China. With a couple of days still to go, we have come across a leak revealing the forthcoming phablet’s price, specifications, and a photo as well.
Chinese leakster @KJuma has shared a couple of photos that allegedly show the retail box of the Redmi Note 2. Furthermore, the leakster also claims that the phablet will be priced around $177, which roughly comes up to Rs 11,300. This is a tad more than the 799 Yuan (Rs 8,300 approximately) price tag leaked in earlier reports.
As for specifications, the Redmi Note 2 is expected to be launched in two variants depending upon the region — one powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor, and the other powered by MediaTek MT6795 chipset.
The rest of the specifications are in line with earlier leaks. It is expected to feature dimensions of 152.05×76.2×8.05mm, which is slimmer than its predecessor — 154×78.7×9.45mm. Also said to be featured is a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB internal memory, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. As seen in the above photo, the phablet will run on Android 5.0.2 presumably wrapped under the soon-to-be-announced MIUI 7.
As mentioned above, the Redmi Note 2 is widely believed to be unveiled on August 13 in China along with the Lollipop-based MIUI 7. Interestingly, it is the same day Samsung is hosting its Unpacked event where it will unveil the Galaxy Note 5, and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
