Xiaomi has confirmed that it is releasing the MIUI 7 on August 13 at an event in Beijing, and now a new leak points towards a smartphone launch alongside as well. GizmoChina has got hold of a screenshot from Xiaomi’s online store showing that the 32GB Redmi Note 2 version will be priced at 799 Yuan (Rs 8,300 approximately) and will go up for pre-order on August 16. This clearly indicates that the Redmi Note 2 may also see an unveil on August 13 alongside the MIUI 7.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has seen quite a few leaks in the recent past. It is said to feature dimensions of 152.05×76.2×8.05mm, which is slimmer than its predecessor — 154×78.7×9.45mm.
The Redmi Note 2 is speculated to feature a 5.5-inch display and is likely to come in two variants — one powered by a MediaTek MT6795 octa-core chipset and the other by a Snapdragon 615 chipset. Both the variants will feature 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 16GB/32GB internal storage, and a 3,020mAh battery.
Coming to the MIUI 7, it will be built on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Information about what’s new with the MIUI 7 is scarce at the moment. The company’s current latest MIUI 6 runs on many Xiaomi smartphones like the Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi Note, Note Pro and several others. The Redmi Note 4G and the Redmi 1S also got the MIUI 6 update.
